Listening Help

HKC Radio now offers its listeners several listening options. These are tailored to the connection and player with which you are listening.

Our main stream is our OGG Vorbis stream. OGG Vorbis is an open source, variable bitrate, lossy compression format that was originally designed to replace mp3. It is the format in which our archives are saved, and it sounds best out of all of the streams. To listen to OGG Vorbis streams, we recommend Foobar2000. It is fast, small, and handles OGG Vorbis best out of the known players. Our other recommended choice is Winamp. Once you download and install a player of choice, simply click the “Broadband OGG” menu item, and you are able to listen.

Our MP3 streams exist so that anyone can listen to HKC Radio. MP3 is ubiquitous, and is supported on every computer built after 1998. Simply click the menu item for your appropriate connection type, and you are able to listen. However, There is a sound quality drop even with the broadband stream, so if you can possibly do it, we recommend installing an OGG Vorbis capable player.

It is now very easy to listen to HKC Radio. What are you waiting for? Check the schedule, add the messengers, and listen to us when we are on.
