Our host, the fine folks at DreamHost, decided to upgrade the version of PHP which is driving the site. This is why noone could post because of log in problems. The solution seemed simple enough. Upgrade the backend. So I did. There is a bug which I think will be fixed when we do our major backend work very soon. On some machines, if you log in to the site, it just dumps you back to the main page with no change except your name in the who's online list. Simply exit and reload the browser. That's it.
