Center Stage

Take Center Stage with me, as I explore all things stage and Screen, and everything in between. If it has been, or will be some kind of musical, I’ll play it, and talk about it, From Broadway, to movie musicals, television and maybe some surprises along the way.

I also feature a segment of the show called Spotlight, because how can you be center stage without one? Every week I’ll feature a different subject, either an artist, actor, lyricist, composer, movie, song, or entire musical. Whoever, or whatever seems interesting at the time will be featured, and No topic is off limits. Listener suggestions for this feature are encouraged, because I want to talk about what you’d like to hear about. Song requests are also welcome.

So, join me, every Tuesday from four to seven PM Eastern.

Center Stage May 2nd 2024

It's tony Nominations time, and that coincides with the musicals I want to talk about but haven't been able to. So I catch up on them via how many got nominated and how many didn't. The patter song is characterised by a moderately fast to very fast tempo with a rapid succession of rhythmic patterns in which each syllable of text corresponds to one note. It is a staple of comic opera, especially Gilbert and Sullivan, but it has also been used in musical theatre and elsewhere. the songs in today's show are all patter songs, from musical theatre, from Stephen Schwartz, Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwin, Cole porter, and Gilbert and Sullivan, as well as many others.

Center Stage February 15th, 2024

Completely opposite of the show I did last year in this exact timeslot, on the same date.

Center Stage January 18, 2024

highlighting musical theatre in 2023 and a look ahead to broadway 2024

A Center Stage, sort of, Christmas

A Center Stage, Sort of, christmas goes anywhere and everywhere, litterally, to find Christmas songs, Carols and other content to fit the giant space I've carved out for myself this year on HKC radio. I break format but I don't break the show at all, and this show was a ton of fun!

Center Stage November 30, 2023

affectionately known as the Ooooo shiney show, there's a lot of comedy things from all sorts of places owing to the fact that I had no playlist to start with.

There's also a musical surprise, but don't lose your head over it, okay? A couple people already did, and they died! I know it's hnear Halloween, but I'm not a fan of zombies.

Center stage June 8th, 2023

It's all about the tony's both past and present this week, as we relive some great performances. I picked lots of them that didn't win because concentrating on the winners sometimes means you miss truely great performances just because they didn't take home one of those glorious ornaments, as Josh and sara call them. We also talk about this year's crop of nominated shows, in a bit of a different way then just talking, because just talking would be borring. so stay tuned until the end or you'll miss true greatness and a lot of fun!

part one of two Center Stage Shows about tv themes. From soap operas to comedy to kid's shows and everything in between. We were all on team talk, but it wasn't routed for half of the show. We had some great conversations in the voicebreaks, which is why being up on team talk is a good thing during live shows. Sadly, you can only hear my voice during said conversations, but only for half of the show. The other half routed just fine. It was a show that I enjoyed immensely, and I hope you do as well.

So because I couldn't talk I chose to stream the Olivier awards, which are similar to the Tony's except that they are for London's West end instead of Broadway. After that was a stream of WestSide Storry 2022.
